Critical Race Theory:(Con-)Textuality and Visibility

Wir sind ein studentisch organisiertes Forschungsprojekt, das sich mit der Critical Race Theory beschäftigt. Die Critical Race Theory ist ein interdisziplinärer Ansatz zur Erforschung von institutionellem und strukturellem Rassismus. Unser Ziel ist es, einen Beitrag zur Aufklärung und Veränderung des normativen Verhaltens und Schreibens an Universitäten zu leisten, indem wir uns fragen: Wie weiß ist die Institution Akademie?
Um diese Frage zu beantworten, beleuchten wir in unseren Untersuchungen insbesondere weißen Paratext, welcher die wissenschaftliche Lektüre zum Thema Rassismus zum großen Teil prägt. Dadurch können wir zeigen, inwieweit das Verhalten und Schreiben an Universitäten von der Norm weiß, männlich und heterosexuell geprägt ist. Dabei legen wir besonderen Wert auf eine intersektionale Betrachtung von Rassismus. Unsere Forschung zeigt die Relevanz dieser Perspektive auf und sensibilisiert für die unterschiedlichen Auswirkungen von Rassismus. Unsere Motivation und gesellschaftliche Relevanz liegen darin, selbständig transdisziplinäre Wissenschaft zu erlernen, indem wir uns in Workshops intensiv mit der Problematik auseinandersetzen und praktische Lösungsstrategien entwickeln.
Wir sind der Überzeugung, dass unsere Gesellschaft vor einem Wandel steht und es notwendig ist, diesen Wandel proaktiv mitzugestalten. Indem wir uns mit der Critical Race Theory auseinandersetzen, erwerben wir nicht nur fachliche Kenntnisse, sondern tragen auch dazu bei, ein Bewusstsein für Rassismus in verschiedenen Disziplinen an der Universität zu schaffen. Was unser Forschungsprojekt besonders innovativ und nachhaltig macht, ist die Tatsache, dass die Critical Race Theory bisher noch keinen festen Platz im universitären Kanon hat.
Unser Ziel ist es daher, diese Theorie in den Lehrplänen verschiedener Disziplinen zu etablieren und eine breitere Auseinandersetzung mit dem Thema Rassismus zu ermöglichen. Darüber hinaus streben wir an, eine Sprachsensibilität im Umgang mit Rassismus zu entwickeln und so zu einer inklusiveren Hochschulkultur beizutragen.

We are a student-led research project focused on Critical Race Theory. Critical Race Theory is an interdisciplinary approach to studying institutional and structural racism. Our goal is to contribute to the awareness and transformation of normative behavior and writing within universities by asking the question: How white is the institution of academia?
To answer this question, our investigations shed light especially on white paratexts that significantly shape the academic discourse on racism. Through this, we can demonstrate the extent to which behavior and writing at universities are influenced by the norm of whiteness, maleness, and heterosexuality. We place particular emphasis on an intersectional examination of racism, valuing the importance of this perspective and raising awareness of the diverse impacts of racism.Our motivation and societal relevance lie in independently acquiring transdisciplinary knowledge by engaging in workshops that delve into the issue and develop practical solutions.
We believe that our society is undergoing a transformation, and it is necessary to actively participate in shaping this change. By engaging with Critical Race Theory, we not only acquire specialized knowledge but also contribute to creating awareness of racism in various disciplines at the university.What makes our research project particularly innovative and sustainable is the fact that Critical Race Theory has not yet found a permanent place in the academia canon.
Therefore, our aim is to establish this theory in the curricula of different disciplines and encourage broader engagement with the topic of racism. Additionally, we strive to develop a sensitive treatment of language when addressing racism, thus contributing to a more inclusive university culture.
