On 6 March, the Data Literacy Teaching Lab held its final event, marking the end of the two funding phases for innovative teaching projects in the field of digital and data literacy. The event began with a warm welcome from Natalia Filatkina, Vice President for Studies and Teaching at Universität Hamburg, who emphasised the importance of data literacy in today's educational landscape.
A review of the variety of projects showed the range of ideas and initiatives that have been developed as part of the teaching lab. From interactive learning platforms to data-based teaching methods, the participants proudly presented their results and experiences.
The presence of all 21 projects facilitated an inspiring exchange in which the participants presented their personal learnings and insights. This dialogue was instrumental in sharing best practices and gaining new perspectives on the challenges in the field of digital and data literacy. Further information on the teaching lab and the individual teaching lab projects can be found here.
The event concluded with a cosy end to the day with a buffet, which provided space for informal discussions and further exchange. The event was not only a milestone for the successful projects, but also proof of the growing importance of digital and data literacy in university teaching.
Following the conclusion of the two teaching lab funding rounds, the DDLitLab is now looking to the future. The extension of the funding until the end of 2025 enables us to continue supporting specific projects in a targeted manner. The results of the two funding rounds are therefore crucial to our goal of establishing data literacy education at Universität Hamburg in the long term.
