About us
The HUB for Crossdisciplinary Learning (HCL) serves to offer students in almost all Bachelor's degree programs an innovative, interdisciplinary range of courses – with opportunities for certification. The HCL not only provides a platform for the strategic further development of courses, but also creates space for new didactic formats that specifically address current social challenges such as the twin transformation (sustainability and digitalization), democracy, health, diversity and internationalization, knowledge transfer and future skills in general.
The CDL currently offers over 650 courses from almost all faculties, with formats ranging from traditional courses such as lectures, seminars and tutorials to language courses, colloquia and project and internship seminars
The HCL is responsible for two areas of content
- In the area of courses, the HCL brings together courses from the participating faculties, which students can use as part of the new “Crossdisciplinary Learning” course area. On the one hand, the courses enable students to select subject-specific introductions according to their interests and to deepen their knowledge in a way that is tailored to their interests. On the other hand, the courses offer students the opportunity to set very different priorities. These include, for example, peace education, internationalization, gender competence, intersectionality and diversity as well as education for sustainable development (ESD).
- The HCL supervises the student research groups as part of University of Hamburg's Excellence Strategy. The HCL supports students in starting their own research projects during their studies and qualifying themselves in the field of research-based learning at an early stage. This gives students the opportunity to develop their own research-oriented cooperation projects at an early stage.
