Data Literacy Teaching Lab / Cross-Disciplinary Teaching Labs
DDLitLab supports innovative teaching projects for a maximum of 12 months with the Data Literacy Teaching Lab. The focus is on digital and hybrid teaching innovation that are part of the Studium Generale, subject-specific courses, or knowledge-exchange-oriented teaching activities. For this purpose, DDLitLab offers IT support for teaching projects and promotes the Digital University Teaching Literacy (DUTy) of teachers in cooperation with the Hamburg Center for University Teaching and Learning (HUL).

The data literacy teaching lab - creating space for good ideas under conditions of increasing digitality
The teaching lab concept is based on the observation that many of the conditions leave little room for teachers to continuously develop the quality of their teaching. Nevertheless, the willingness is undoubtedly there, as are numerous good ideas. The Data Literacy Teaching Lab creates scope for the expansion of these teaching ideas, offers effective incentives for teaching development and promotes public recognition of achievements. The focus is on data literacy, which is to be sustainably integrated into the curricula as a key competence of the 21st century in subject-specific and interdisciplinary courses. Through the exchange of experiences and the adaptation of successful teaching ideas, a community of practice is to be created in which the continuous ‘dialogue on good teaching’ among all participants is implemented as a permanent fixture.

Interview series: Spotlight Data Literacy Teaching Lab

In our new interview series "Spotlight Data Literacy Teaching Lab", we present some of the exciting teaching projects funded by the DDLitLab at the University of Hamburg in 2023 and 2024.
This series is interesting for anyone who is passionate about university teaching, data literacy and DLE, and for those who would also like to gain insights into interdisciplinary teaching projects and/or collaborations with transfer partners.
The lecturers describe their projects from the inside and share their experiences with us. We not only learn about their teaching concepts and content, but also about how the students have developed their own data skills and then applied these together in projects. Spotlight on!
