The last Data Worlds lecture of the winter semester 23/24 took place on 30 January. Ingrid Schirmer and Fabian Burmeister spoke about data ecosystems and their systematic significance for data protection. With illustrative examples of data protection-critical cases and the ongoing efforts to regulate society, such as the AI Act in the EU, they once again emphasised the high relevance of the topic.
The lecture ended with a lively debate on the social handling of data. Students, lecturers and guests exchanged perspectives on topics such as data protection and ethical data processing.
At the same time, a link was made to the follow-up lecture ‘Digital Worlds’ (previously: ‘Data Worlds 2’) in the next summer semester, in which topics such as data ethics, datafication practices and data protection will be discussed further.
We would like to thank everyone for the productive discussion and wish you a pleasant lecture-free period!
