Virtual accessories – On the Examination of Contemporary Clothing Virtuality from a Visual Culture Perspective
The presence of the self is increasingly transferred into digital spaces, in which aspects of fashion play a central role. At the same time, demands for a sustainable consumption are becoming increasingly louder. In this field of tension clothing is emancipated from its textile origin and manifests itself more and more in virtual forms. The research project deals with this clothing virtuality from an interdisciplinary perspective, by applying Aby Warburg‘s term of the moved accessories in a modified way by the term of the virtual accessories in the digital world. Apart from the technical basic research, we will conduct interviews with artists and researchers which will complement the research in museum institutions. A concluding exhibition will give access to a broader public.
