New Technologies in the penal system. A Dispositive Analysis in the Context of Suicide Prevention in the Prison Düsseldorf.
The objective of the research project is to examine societal impacts and impacts on internal processes in the prison of the use of new technologies in the penal system. The object of the analysis is the pilot project on the use of Artificial Intelligence in suicide prevention in the prison Düsseldorf. Event-driven video surveillance of prisoners is used in cooperation with the North Rhine-Westphalian Ministry of Justice and the software company Fusion Systems from Chemnitz in the frame of a pilot project.
This self-learning system is supposed to recognize suicide attempts in prison cells. Most probably, we will use the dispositive concept as our research perspective. The specific Human-Machine Constellation in the penal system will be examined with the help of qualitative interviews, document analysis and the analysis of layouts.
