Island community Perspective on Climate Change Understanding in Teluk Mutiara District, Alor, Indonesia
Climate change as one of the global environmental challenges needs to explore the local knowledge and understanding to improve the global and national narrative, particularly climate change communication. We propose to conduct a study to find out the local community perspective in Alor island, Indonesia. Focusing on the coastal area in Teluk Mutiara district, we will interview the fishermen groups which represent the islanders who directly interact with the environment. Using Ethnographic method, we will also observe cultural practices and the dynamic change of environment to support the argument of the values that shape their understanding on climate change.
