The Duality of the digital Structure: The Example Instagram
Platform Economy, Surveillance Capitalism, Industry 4.0 – scientific efforts to find adequate terms for current societal change which have been evoked by digitalization have increased in the past few years. So far, less attention has been paid to are analysis on the dynamic of interaction of target groups and users of corresponding platforms in social science on the one hand as well as the digital infrastructure of the latter on the other hand. However, this interaction is of eminent importance in order to determine the mutual dependence of platform companies und users. This analysis thus has the potential to address anew the micro vs. macro problem, which accompanies sociology since its origins, in front of the empiric background of the current digitalization processes.
