The University:Future Festival (U:FF), the largest event on the (digital) future of academic education, took place from 5 to 7 June 2024. U:FF 2024 was organised as a hybrid event and offered a varied programme on topics such as AI, future skills, didactics and strategy processes. Participants were able to experience the entire content of the programme online and attend meetings at various locations in Germany. With over 300 contributions from more than 600 speakers in German and English, the festival was an inspiring event organised by the Hochschulforum Digitalisierung and the Stiftung Innovation in der Hochschullehre with the support of the Stifterverband.
Universität Hamburg's DDLitLab was also present and presented the university-wide approach to promoting digital and data skills. Under the title ‘Teaching digital and data skills: The university-wide approach of the DDLitLab’, Moritz Kreinsen and Jennifer Preiß presented our measures and strategies for promoting digital and data literacy among students and digital university teaching literacy among lecturers, as well as building competences on generative AI (gAI) in studies and teaching and establishing a community of practice on gAI. Over 60 participants attended the presentation and took part in the discussion on the digital stage of the Innovation in Higher Education Foundation.
The University:Future Festival 2024 was not only a platform for exciting discussions, but also a place for exchange and further development in the field of digital and data literacy in studying and teaching. The commitment of the DDLitLab and other institutions at U:FF 2024 reflects the endeavour to optimally train students and teachers for the digital requirements of the future.
