The next round of our ‘AI Hands-On’ event series took place on 15 May, this time in the form of a barcamp. At the beginning, the participants were given an overview of the implementation status of the ‘UHH Orientation Framework for AI in Teaching and Learning’ at the various faculties. It became clear that the faculties have made varying degrees of progress in adapting the orientation framework for their respective departments.
The event focussed on the exchange and discussion of current topics relating to generative AI in the university context. The implications of the various new functions for lecturers and students were discussed, particularly with regard to the GPT-4o presented the day before. Another thematic focus was on improving the recently launched UHH-GPT. Teachers' needs were collected, which will now be discussed with the people responsible for further developing the platform.
The event offered participants from different areas the opportunity to discuss their respective perspectives and experiences in groups. There was a consensus that both the faculties' rules for the safe and ethical use of generative AI and the application of UHH-GPT should be further discussed and developed.
The DDLitLab team welcomes the lively participation and would like to thank the participants for their diverse perspectives, which helped to enrich the event.
