In order to provide a framework for the discussion on dealing with generative AI (gAI) in studying and teaching at the University of Hamburg, a working group with the participation of Gabi Reinmann and Kai-Uwe Schnapp has drawn up a recommendation paper in which initial principles have been laid down.
On 29 November, around 40 people from various departments at UHH had the opportunity to contribute and discuss their perspectives, requests for changes and criticisms of the current draft version.
Overall, the framework paper was largely well received. The participants also contributed many valuable ideas: for example, they wanted the paper to provide concrete starting points for the subject-specific organisation of dealing with gAI. The interdisciplinary audience also spoke in favour of maintaining an active discussion on these rapidly changing topics.
By the way: Initial insights into how both teachers and students at Universität Hamburg are already using generative AI can be found here.
