On 22 March, around 70 people came together for the ceremonial conclusion of the first funding round of the Data Literacy Teaching Lab.
After a welcome address by DDLitLab co-spokesperson Kai-Uwe Schnapp, Sebastian Gerling, Chief Digital Officer at Universität Hamburg, emphasised the importance of teachers' commitment and willingness to experiment in the field of digital and data literacy.
DDLitLab project manager Katharina Kleinen-von Königslöw then presented facts and figures about the teaching labs and reviewed the past year: For example, around 350 students were reached in 22 courses that were newly developed or fundamentally restructured with the help of project funding. In the poster pitches that followed, each project team had exactly one minute to get the audience excited and curious about their poster.
In the following poster session, the aspects addressed in the pitch were discussed in depth and led to interesting conversations about the teaching experiences, content and results gathered. The fellows of the second teaching lab round, some of whom were also guests, were able to benefit from this in particular. In addition, it became clear that the initial funding in the teaching lab has a lasting effect on a number of teaching projects, for example in the form of permanent anchoring in the study programme or through external follow-up funding.
The lively discussion continued into the evening over canapés and drinks. Once again, we would like to thank all those involved in the teaching labs and look forward to the 2nd funding round!
