Three small groups of students from different disciplines presented their data-driven innovation ideas in the 2nd edition of the ‘Data Thinking’ course.
In hybrid workshops, the participants came together in teams and developed, discussed and elaborated their ideas together using various co-creative methods. In particular, the students were encouraged to engage with data in the context of their own ideas, to reflect on them and to overcome challenges in dealing with them.
The students developed these three data-driven innovation ideas:
- RADiHH: Data-based analysis of the bicycle network between the university campuses in Hamburg as part of their decentralised distribution and development of a mobility concept as a supportive contribution to developing Hamburg into an attractive cycling city and motivating the climate-friendly use of this means of transport among students.
- GroceryHero: Mobile application to encourage neighbourly help as a social digital innovation. The aim is to support people who are restricted in their mobility, for example, in shopping for everyday products through regional volunteers.
- Sharing Economy Impact Analysis: Investigating the sustainable impact of platforms that aim to share goods (e.g. tools) that usually ‘gather dust’ unused in households. To this end, the acceptance of such platforms among consumers and tenants as well as the ecological effects of sharing are to be analysed.
The diversity of the creative results of the Data Thinking event reflects the different approaches and specialist backgrounds of the participating students. They show that interdisciplinary work can be a challenge, but also an enrichment. The Data Thinking event served synergistically as an opportunity and preparation for the students to submit their projects for funding of up to EUR 10,000 as part of the 2nd round of Data Literacy student projects.
We would like to thank all participants for the successful event!
